More than a great yard, KKMI wants to help make your boating experience a great one. We offer Seminars to current and future clients to help you get the most out of your boat.

Seminars are free of charge to past KKMI clients. For individuals who have not brought a boat to KKMI before, there is a fee which varies depending on the particular seminar. This fee, however, becomes a credit on your account towards services through our boatyard and/or merchandise in our Chandlery that will not expire. Charting Seminar - TBD
9am-noon, one hour break for lunch, then 1pm-4pm

Learn what commercial navigators know!
This seminar covers the prudent use and interpretation of GPS, DGPS, electronic chart information and the merits and hazards of navigating with chart plotters. We will also cover hands-on chart navigation to enhance your use and understanding of electronic navigation equipment. We provide all equipment for your use and a take-home workbook.
Capt. Messer is a tenured, Full Professor in the Marine Transportation Department of the California Maritime Academy, where she has taught all aspects of navigation, training professional licensed mariners since 1995.

Electrical Seminar - TBD
Hosted by Ron Romaine, this is an in-depth Electrical Seminar covering everything from designing, installing and maintaining your electrical system. From tools and new equipment to "how to" and tips from over 35 yrs of experience in the field.

Diesel Engine Maintenance Seminar - TBD
In this popular seminar the nautical "Click & Clack" Project Manager, Mike Haley, and top mechanic, Bill Peacock, take you through the ins and outs of your diesel engine as only true professionals can.

Rigging Seminar - TBD
Learn from long time sailor and KKMI Chandlery manager, Ralf Morgan, about standing rigging, rig maintenance and basic rig tuning. Time permitting, discussion will cover various available line options for running rigging; how to choose and how to get the best value for your rigging dollar.

Boatyard 101 Seminar - TBD
In this seminar Project Manager Bob Hennessey will guide you on how to be your own project manager. The seminar will give you tips and advice on how to get the most out of your time and money spent at a boatyard along with providing you your KKMI "Do-It-Yourself" Certification. This seminar is perfect for those who want to learn how to better work with the boatyard, or how to be a Do-It-Yourself yard customer.
