The Times They Are a-Changin’….But Not Everything

2016 Team 8 x 10

As we close out 2016 and enter the New Year it’s time to reflect on the past and look to the future. No matter where you stand, we all recognize that our world has changed in ways we never imagined. For many, I believe, these changes have been bittersweet. Thankfully for KKMI, what changes there have been are nothing but sweet. And for the things we hold dearly, they will not change. Given all the circumstances in the world today, this is quite noteworthy.

PaccuppersWithout a doubt, what has made for such a great year is the continued support we’ve received from you, our wonderful clients. Whether you are a new client or a long-time customer of KKMI, we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve your maritime needs. Truly, when I reflect on all the positive, as well as constructive comments received over the past year, I’m humbled by the faith and confidence you’ve placed in our Team. Our ability to continue to build a Team that represents the best in the maritime industry comes purely through your continued patronage. For this alone, my gratitude is enduring.

While it’s always been KKMI’s goal to deliver superb quality at a fair price, we also recognize that for some of our clients their focus is to win sailboat races. In many cases, this success has been greatly enhanced if not fully attributed to KKMI’s participation. This year our clients achieved more podium positions than any other local service provider. WOW! From long distance races, fully crewed or short-handed, to around the buoys in evening “Beer Can” events, our ability to make your boat go faster or more easily sailed, is a trait that we’re not only proud of ….but the results speak for themselves. To those clients who won or successfully achieved their goals, thank you for allowing KKMI to play a role. We look forward to more achievements in the future with you.

No matter what type of boat you own, as vessel owners we all understand it’s our obligation, both ethically and legally, to do our part and protect the environment. At KKMI, this obligation has been in our “DNA” from day one and continues today by setting an example of what is environmentally achievable within our industry. Our Best Management Practices have lead KKMI to be recognized as one of the “greenest” facilities in the maritime industry by regulators, NGOs and clients. KKMI has been deeply involved with our marine trade association and other stakeholders in sharing our practices this past year. In the coming year, we will continue this change in a positive direction for our industry at large and the health of our Bay.

Lastly, it has been said, “we spend some of the most passionate hours of our life…at work.” At KKMI we do much more than just service and repair vessels. Our Team of artisans, master craftsmen and professionals are genuinely passionate about what they do and it is a privilege to be associated with such a talented and dedicated Team.  Moreover, I believe a key reason why KKMI continues its success is that you- our clients come to us to work with our Team, people who are as passionate about what they do as you are about the time you spend on the water. This, I pledge to you, will never change.

Our goal for 2017 is to continue steering KKMI in the positive direction that we’re headed. Above all, we aim to achieve great things for all at KKMI who embrace making their living on and around the water, and for those we serve, – you – our terrific clients who love being on the water as well.

We look forward to seeing you on the waterfront in 2017!
